A Niagara Falls MPP is calling on the federal government to increase staffing at Niagara's border crossings
Wayne Gates says wait times at the border bridges are signficantly up from last summer adding it took him and an hour and half to get across the border last Friday.
Gates noting the tourism industry could be losing millions of dollars because of the wait times.
He adds there is also the potential of job losses in the manufacturing sector.
The MPP also points to the effect the work load is having on customs agents.
Gates adds it is not the fault of the workers or their collective agreement, it's simply a lack of hiring on the part of Ottawa.
