A Grimsby grandfather is planning a trip to Newfoundland after winning Instant Bingo.
79 year old Irwin Stewart won the $50,000 top prize after buying a few scratch tickets at Lakeside Variety on Olive Street.
The married father and grandfather of seven headed to the store to validate his ticket.
“I couldn’t believe it. The retailer was also surprised.”
Next, Irwin went home to share the good news with his wife. “Her reaction was, ‘No, you didn’t.’ I said, ‘I did!’”
Stewart is planning to pay bills, travel and spoil his family.
“I was already in the process of planning a trip to Newfoundland. We are definitely going to do that now! I also want to take my daughter and son-in-law out to dinner. I’m going to keep most of my windfall in the bank as a safety blanket. Winning the lottery gives me the freedom to pay bills and live comfortably,” concluded Irwin.
