Police say a charge has been laid against a Toronto mother whose three-year-old daughter was found wandering around in the city’s St. Clair West Village neighbourhood early this morning.
According to police, the child was seen walking around by herself at around 1:30 this morning
A resident of the neighbourhood spotted the little girl and called police.
Once officers arrived on scene, they were able to locate the child’s home address and later the parents, who were not home at the time.
The parents, investigators say, were interviewed this morning as officers worked to determine why the child was left unattended.
Police say the mother left to go get pizza and the father of the child was at work at the time of the incident.
The Children’s Aid Society has been notified.
Police say the girl's mother has been charged with child abandonment.
