Skinny basic TV service rolls out today.
Starting today, the CRTC is requiring all cable TV providers to offer customers a basic lineup of channels for no more than $25 a month.
Customers will then be able to add more channels one at a time or in small packs.
The skinny basic packages have to include at least 10 local or regional channels and some educational programming to start.
But by December when cable companies have to offer both basic and pick and pay options, that requirement will disappear as well.
