Power outages across Ontario after last nights storm

A severe weather system through southwest and southern Ontario knocked out power to nearly 50,000 Hydro One customers overnight.

The outages are spread over an area from Lake Huron to Toronto.

Hydro One hopes to restore many of the outages later Sunday night.

Toronto Hydro's website indicated that several thousand customers were without electricity.

Here in Niagara, a few outages here and there, but nothing of large volume.

Environment Canada issued tornado warnings for many areas at one point late Sunday afternoon, but subsequently downgraded them to severe thunderstorm warnings in most areas.
