There seems to be a growing goldfish problem in some of our lakes.
Researchers with the Royal Botanical Gardens say they have counted as many as 2 million goldfish in Hamilton Harbour this year, the result of people dropping unwanted fish into the water.
Provincial scientists aren't surprised saying the fish are showing up in other areas of the lower Great Lakes, particularly the north shore of Lake Erie.
Officials note they appear to be thriving in part because of warmer water due to climate change.
And they add, the goldfish also throw the ecosystem off balance.
