The Niagara Parks Commission has announced that Table Rock Centre and its Falls Incline Railway have been selected as one of two starting points for the upcoming Parapan Am Games Torch Relay, which will begin on Monday August 3rd.

The TORONTO 2015 Parapan Am Games Torch Relay will be a five-day journey, covering over 700 kilometres and including 250 torchbearers.

A first in torch relay history, two separate Parapan Am flames will be lit in special ceremonies to be held on the Civic Holiday Monday – one at Table Rock Centre in Niagara Falls and the other in Ottawa.

The Parapan Am flames will then travel towards Toronto and unite on August 6, before completing the final segment of the journey as one flame.

The flame, a symbol of unity, hope and promise will light the way to the Opening Ceremony of the Parapan Am Games on Friday, August 7 in Toronto.

As the starting point for the Niagara or western portion of the Parapan Am torch relay, The Niagara Parks Commission will be hosting a special flame lighting ceremony which will include its newly renovated and fully accessible Falls Incline Railway.

As a result, one carriage of the Falls Incline Railway will be closed to the public between 10:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., to facilitate the arrival of the Parapan Am torchbearers that will be taking part in the ceremony and the initial journey of the flame as it departs Table Rock Centre.

Free family activities will be taking place throughout the day at the new Lower Incline or Pan and Parapan Am Games Plaza, as we celebrate the nations and athletes from the Americas, taking part in these games.

Meantime, the torch will also make it's way through St.Catharines later in the day on Monday, August 3rd.

You can head down to Lakeside Park from 5:30-7:30pm to celebrate the arrival of the flame and enjoy free family fun including bouncers and inflatables, crafts, games, entertainment, take a selfie with the Parapan Am Torch, and meet PACHI, the Parapan Am Games mascot.
