The Niagara IceDogs have acquired goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic and defenceman Josh Wesley from the Flint Firebirds in exchange for Brent Moran and draft picks.
Nedeljkovic joins the IceDogs after accumulating a 74-64-7-11 record with a 2.92 G.A.A. and .920 save percentage in 161 regular season games with the Plymouth Whalers/Flint Firebirds franchise over the past four seasons. The 2013-14 OHL Goaltender of the Year, Nedeljkovic was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2nd round, 37th overall, in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. The native of Parma, Ohio also was a member of the American team at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships.
Wesley comes to the IceDogs with 8 goals and 23 assists in 155 games with Plymouth/Flint over the past three seasons. The son of former NHL defenceman Glen Wesley, Josh was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 4th round, 96th overall, in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
In return, the IceDogs send goaltender Brent Moran to the Firebirds along with 2nd round picks in 2017, 2018 and 2021, as well as 3rd round picks in 2018 and 2019.
Moran leaves the IceDogs after accumulating a 48-54-4-2 record with a 3.66 G.A.A. and .888 save percentage in 115 games over the past four seasons.
