Senators are finished with the Trudeau government's controversial assisted-dying bill.
In a vote of 64-to-12 last night, they passed an amended version of Bill C-14.
It contains seven amendments -- the most contentious of which removes the requirement that a person be near a natural death in order to qualify for a medically assisted death.
The Trudeau government has signalled it won't accept that key change, meaning the bill faces an uncertain future as it heads back to the House of Commons.
