A half dozen witnesses taking the stand yesterday in the first day of the trial for the man accused of driving drunk and crashing a dump truck into the Burlington Skyway, causing days of traffic gridlock on the QEW.
Sukhvinder SIngh Rai, is charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving and mischeif endangering life in the July 31st, 2014 crash.
Taking the stand a 22 year old Brock University student who crashed into the back of the dump truck after it hit the bridge.
Testifying with the help of a Mandarin translater, the student outlined the injuries he and his girlfriend suffered in the accident.
Also on the stand, Kyle Turnbull, who was working on scaffolding on the Skyway.
Turnbull telling the judge, he can remember yelling to his co workers, grab ahold of something, this truck's going to hit.
Rai has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
