The burning question remains will Niagara Falls city councillors put a revised open air burning ban bylaw on the backburner?
That's exactly what one councillor wants his colleagues to do.
Wayne Campbell plans to ask council to put off a vote on the revised bylaw March 22nd, to give staff time to come up with a detailed report on whether banning backyard bonfires actually does help reduce the city's carbon footprint
Campbell argues to date councillors who support upholding a ban are basing their decision on subjective evidence.
He tells CKTB's Tim Denis, one councillor actually supports the ban based on the opinion of his mother.
Council has been back and forth on the issue for months, first proposing giving residents the chance to buy a permit allowing them to light up their chimineas, then deciding to hold a series of public meetings to get feedback, finally proposing a stricter revised bylaw that closes the so called hotdog loophole.
That loophole allows residents to have a backyard fire for cooking purposes.
