Regional council expected to approve a move to increase speed limits on a part of two busy roads in Niagara Falls.

Council is expected to green light the move at its meeting tonight.

If approved the 80 kmh limit on Lyons Creek will be extended from Montrose Road to just west of Stanley, at that point the limit will go up from 60 to 70 kmh until the 50 kmh stretch kicks in.

And drivers travelling on Thorold Stone Road will see the speed limit incrase to 70 kmh west of Garner Road to west of Kalar.

The move was made after local residents complained of getting ticketed in those areas for speeding.
