Citing structural integrity concerns, Lakeside Park Pavilion in Port Dalhousie has been sealed off.
The inspection by a third-party engineering firm determined the existing structure, combined with snow accumulation and high winds meant the area needed to be restricted to ensure public safety.
City staff have installed a fence around the perimeter of the pavilion, which will remain in place until the identified safety issues have been addressed.
“City Council understands the importance of the Lakeside Park Pavilion to the community. However, the first priority is, and always will be, the safety of our citizens and visitors,” said Mayor Walter Sendzik.
A staff report on the pavilion will be presented to City Council by the end of March.
