A man has been arrested following a fire Monday afternoon in St.Catharines.
Shortly after 4:00 p.m. police, fire and EMS responded to a residential care facility on Queenston Street for a report of a working fire.
Upon arrival, fire crews were able to bring the fire quickly under control while evacuating residents from the facility.
There were no injuries as a result of the fire and damage was contained to a single room within the building.
Upon police arrival, officers received information that led them to a man who also lives at the facility.
Officers arrested the man saying they determined that he was responsible for setting the fire.
Charged with One Count of Arson Disregard for Human Life is 27 year old Thomas William of St.Catharines.
William will appear for a Bail Hearing at the Robert S.K. Welch courthouse located at 59 Church Street in The City of St.Catharines on Tuesday January 12, 2016.
Detectives with the One District Detective Office are continuing to investigate this matter with the assistance of the Office of the Fire Marshal.
