Woman accused of stealing $80,000 5 years ago in Niagara has been arrested

A woman at the centre of a fraud case in Niagara, who then fled the country has been arrested.
 
Niagara Police say back in August of 2010, a woman in Grimsby allegedly impersonated a client at a bank to access the client's funds.

The woman was able to collect $80,000.

An investigation by the NRP Fraud Unit in 2010, identified the woman who had fled to Botswana after obtaining the funds.

A warrant was issued for her arrest.

Yesterday, (Wednesday, January 6) the woman was arrested by Peel Regional Police and turned over to the Niagara Regional Police Service.

Charged with Fraud Over $5000, Identity Fraud, and Laundering Proceeds of Crime is 44 year old Pumela Palmer of Mississauga.

She appeared for a bail hearing today and was remanded in custody.
