St. Catharines residents can have their say about the 2016 budget during an upcoming telephone town hall and a series of open houses.

The Budget Standing Committe, which includes St. Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik and Councillor Mat Siscoe, will answer questions about the 2016 operating budget during a telephone town hall on Monday, January 18th from 7pm to 8pm.

Telephone town halls operate similar to radio call-in shows, except instead of people calling in, 30,000 residents will be called at home and asked to participate.

Residents will be randomly chosen to participate, but those residents who want to ensure their participation can register in advance by emailing their name and phone number to Citizens First at citizensfirst@stcatharines.ca or by calling 905 688 5600.

Advance registration closes Friday at noon.

The Budget Standing Committee will also meet residents at two open houses to discuss priorities, questions, and concerns regarding the 2016 operating budget.

The first open house will be held at the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre on Tuesday January 19th, from 6pm to 7pm.

The second open house will be held at the Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre, on Tuesday January 21st from 6pm to 9pm.
