It is a very cold day in Niagara, but we are not under a weather alert.
A cold weather alert has been issued by the city of Hamilton.
Toronto also under a cold weather warning.
In Niagara, the Extreme Cold Weather criteria is when temperatures fall below -15 C, and/or when weather conditions are severe enough to warrant alerting the community to the risks involved with prolonged exposure to the outdoors (blizzard, wind chill warning).
As of 1pm we are sitting at -11, but with the windchill it feels more like -19.
It was however cold enough for the Icewine harvest to begin in Niagara.
Things will warm up tomorrow, on Tuesday, the high is -2.
We are expected to get 5 centimetres of snow in Niagara today with light flurries ending this evening.
