The City of St. Catharines is calling this years toy and gift drive a success.
The city has donated more than 500 toys and $300 in gift cards to Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold on behalf of residents who supported the 18th annual Tree of Little Angles toy and gift drive.
“We are always overwhelmed by how Tree of Little Angels brings our community together to help make wonderful holiday memories for everyone,” said Elizabeth Fritshaw, the City’s toy drive coordinator. “The spirit of the season is strong in St. Catharine’s and hundreds of children are going to find a surprise waiting for them under the tree on Christmas morning because of it.
“Thank you to everyone who donated and made the Tree of Little Angels a success again this year.”
The City collected new, unwrapped toy donations from Nov. 13 to Dec. 12 at City Hall and other City facilities across St. Catharines.
The City invited residents to select “little angels” from Christmas trees and purchase new gifts for those children.
Community Care anticipates assisting more than 3,000 families this Christmas with dinner and presents for under the tree in addition to its regular support services.
