As Ministry of Natural Resource officials continue to drop rabies vaccine bait in areas around Hamilton today, it will be up to the province to decide the fate of two Bull Mastiffs at the centre of the rabies scare.
Mr. Satan and Lexus were picked up by animal control after they escaped their yard last week and placed in a van with a rabid raccoon.
The two dogs are now being held in quarantine.
But the dog's owner says she can't afford to pay to board them in isolation for three to six months, and the city says animal services can only hold them for so long.
So now it's up the provincial Agriculture Ministry to decide if the dogs should be euthanized or quarantined elsewhere.
