Pan Am events wrap up in Niagara

Niagara's role in the 2015 Pan Am games has come to an end with the final rowing event now in the books...

We took medals in 4 of 5 events this morning, 3 gold in men's eight, men's coxless four and women's quadruple sculls as well as a silver in men's single sculls.

The results pushed Canada's rowing total at the Games to nine - six gold, one silver and two bronze.

St. Catharines native Eric Woelfl, Maxwell Lattimer of Delta, B.C., Brendan Hodge of South Delta, B.C. and Nicolas Pratt of Kingston won the lightweight four in six minutes 42.40 seconds, more than four seconds ahead of the U.S. Chile was third.

In the single sculls, Cuba's Angel Fournier finished more than six seconds ahead of the pack to win gold in seven minutes 51.39 seconds.

Gibson was second with a time of 7:57.94.

With competition now over, a free community celebration in Lakeside Park.

The celebration will feature live entertainment, children’s activities and a special appearance by members of Canada’s Pan Am Games rowing team.

The closing ceremony celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
